Kay Kelly
Responsible Individual
Kay began her career in the 1990s by volunteering with local youth groups in her community. An experience that sparked a lifelong commitment to supporting young people.
This early involvement led her to pursue a degree in Community and Youth Studies, providing the academic grounding for her work in the field.
Following her studies, Kay joined Barnardo’s where she specialised in supporting children at risk of sexual exploitation and those going missing from home or care. During this time, she also qualified as a Social Worker further strengthening her ability to advocate for and protect vulnerable young people. Her dedication and leadership saw her progress to the role of Children’s Service Manager, where she led services in this highly complex and sensitive area.
After 18 years with Barnardo’s, Kay made a strategic transition into supported accommodation and then into children’s residential homes. This shift enabled Kay to bring her extensive experience into new care settings, continuing her commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people through trauma-informed person-centred practice.
Kay is currently working towards her L5 Diploma in Leadership and Management.
